Yearly, a bunch of grasshoppers come to the anthill and eat what the ants have gathered for them. The “providing”, because the ants name the ritual, is part of their destiny. Sooner or later in spring, when the providing’s preparation has simply been completed, Flik, unliked inventor ant,

by accident drops the entire supplied seeds into the river. The grasshoppers come and provides the ants a second likelihood to gather meals till fall. Flik units off to seek out bugs which might be prepared to battle the grasshoppers (no one expects him to succeed anyway) and, attributable to a double misinterpretation, returns with a circus crew, giving all people new hope.
